Andrew Jackson Hotel

Image
The Andrew Jackson Hotel located in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans, has seen it's fair share of history, and ghost stories. The current, two story building has existed in this location since around 1890, and was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966. However, the history of this location spans even further. In the eighteenth century, yellow fever was a common epidemic that would sweep through New Orleans. Mortality rate was high in children, but even more so in adults. These epidemics left many children in need of schooling, and in 1792, a boys boarding school was built on the plot of land that the Andrew Jackson Hotel now sits on. In 1794, New Orleans would see two fires sweep through the city. According to reports, the second fire consumed the boarding school, killing five of the boys. Supposedly, it is their spirits that have chosen to remain behind. Soon after this tragedy, a Federal courthouse was put in this location. For history fan

The Blue Ghost - USS Lexington

Image
The USS Lexington (CV 16) is an Essex -class aircraft carrier built during War World II for the United States Navy. During WWII she earned the nickname "The Blue Ghost" by the Japanese as there were many reports that the ship had been sunk, only to reappear later. She was decommissioned in 1947, to be recommissioned in 1955 after she had been updated and reclassified as an Attack Carrier. After serving in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and the Pacific, she was eventually decommissioned once again in 1991, and now sits in Corpus Christi, Texas as a museum. The Lexington 's ghost stories would begin when in 1943 (shortly after reporting for duty), she was torpedoed by a Japanese sub resulting in some men being killed. The Lexington also suffered a great loss of life when in November of 1944, she was hit by a Japanese kamikaze plane attack. Between these attacks, along with other loss of life in the action she saw throughout her carrier, it is no wonder why people may f

In Loving Memory

On July 10, 1966, the RMS Queen Mary was making her way across the north Atlantic Ocean when she encountered fog. It was standard protocol for the Bridge to close all watertight doors as a safety precaution. About 7 seconds before all doors closed, a warning bell would ring to notify any person who may be near the door. If a crew member found themselves on the "wrong" side of the door, there was a hydraulic hand lever that the person could pull to open the door manually. However, once the lever was released, the door would begin to close again. It was very important for the individual opening the door, to make sure that the door was fully cranked open, before trying to pass through it. Sadly, for Fireman "J," he did not open the door wide enough, before attempting to pass through it, and tragically lost his life in an area of the Aft Engine Room known as Shaft Alley. There have been many rumors about this young man (whose full name I will not say, out

Linda Vista Hospital

Image
One of the most amazing paranormal experiences I have experienced was at the (former) Linda Vista Hospital located in Los Angeles, California. Originally called the Santa Fe Railroad Hospital, it opened in 1904 to great fanfare. In 1989 it was renamed the Linda Vista Hospital. By the 1970's, the hospital started to decline as the railroad hospital association started to decline. The surrounding area of the hospital was also becoming less affluential and by 1980 the Santa Fe Railroad sold the hospital to healthcare company. From there, things only seemed to go down hill for the hospital as the reduce in operational expenses seemed to lead to more facility death rates. The hospital was also seeing an increase in gunshot and stabbing wounds coming in from the local neighborhoods. The lack of healthcare from most of the patients also lead the hospital to close it's emergency services. Finally, in 1991, the Linda Vista Hospital checked out it's last patient. Since it's c
